Judith Quinn Garnett

Lives & works in Portland, Oregon

I am not a one media artist. Being primarily self-taught and driven, I love to explore all manner of visual arts as ART is my strongest voice, a mirror to myself and I hope the wider world.

Today I create work that is a mix of media and finished by a strong line made with an industrial sewing machine. Primary to this work is paint as all my work begins with connection to the surface in color, emotion and movement. Along the way, my abstract work plays with the balance and tension between expressive abstraction and the grounding of geometric pattern. Yet I do not restrict my work to abstract as I’ve accepted that I am a dual artist who loves people and never tires of the depth of expression and emotional quality in figurative work.

Most of all, my work begins with connections to people and the sentiments of my environment as my emotion leads to the work I care to make.
